Our response to the latest ONS migration statistics

Responding to the Office of National Statistics’ Migration figures, Sarah Williamson a spokesperson for Destination for Education, said:

“We welcome the ONS’ admission today of the short comings of the data on non-EU students, particularly around using International Passenger Survey (IPS) data. The ONS rightly points out the drawbacks of using IPS data – but more needs to be done. A huge amount of emphasis is put on ONS data in public policy and so it is crucial that the data is robust and fit for purpose.”
